biography

Ria Czerniak-LeBov is a visual artist, writer and musician living in Dublin. Upon leaving NCAD in 2016, Ria received Graphic Studio Dublin’s Graduate Award. She has been a full-time member of GSD ever since, working predominantly in intaglio printmaking. Her etchings are an exploration of the built environment, our spatial memory and the ways in which we document our worlds, both on and offline. Using an array of freely available apps and photographic editing software, Ria’s practice, both as an artist and writer, focuses on the relationship between analogue and digital technologies.

Ria’s paper Irish Printmakers in the Age of Digital Reproduction was selected and published by IMPACT International Print Conference (UWE, Bristol, 2022) and was the basis of her curatorial debut Oscillation (Graphic Studio Gallery, 2023). Her writing has appeared in Pressing Matters, The Honest Ulsterman and Printmaking Today.

Her prints have been exhibited at The RHA, RUA, The National Botanic Gardens, St. Patrick’s Hospital, Halftone Print Fair, Graphic Studio Gallery, GMIT and NUI Maynooth and are included in several permanent collections including Trinity College Dublin, Office of Public Works and Mason, Hayes and Curran Solicitors. Her artworks have also been featured in multiple publications including Totally Dublin, The Pickled Body and Cyphers, as well as covers for writer Dimitra Xidous’ two collections (Doire Press).
